Who we are
Silvia Krakowiak Rosenthal
Silvia Krakowiak Rosenthal has a graduate and post graduate degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-SP). She is a Brazilian entrepreneur, based in São Paulo, and mother of two children.
After a personal experience when one of her relatives successfully concluded cancer treatment in the U.S., Silvia was contacted by others who were in similar situations. They needed information regarding treatment as well as help scheduling appointments and dealing with logistical details throughout their stay.
During this time, she helped some people informally and came to the realization that it is a long and complicated process for foreigners who are trying to navigate the US medical system on their own..
This experience inspired her to create a service to assist people by simplifying and expediting this bureaucratic process..
Silvia’s work is non-profit. All of the proceeds from USAppointment are donated to ITACI, Instituto de Tratamento de Câncer Infantil.

Charity of choice
ITACI is a public hospital, which is part of the Instituto da Criança do Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina da USP. It was formed in December, 2002, with the objective of offering a suitable space, with modern equipment to treat children and adolescents until they are accepted for treatment by the “Instituto da Criança” through the “Onco-Hematologia” service.
Today, ITACI is an important reference all over Brazil for specialized medical treatment of children and adolescents with cancer and other rare blood disorders. The most important differential when compared to other institutions is that ITACI will treat children and young people who have been refused by other public hospitals due to the more advanced stages of their sickness.
The institute has a mission to promote adequate cancer or blood disorder treatment to every child who needs it.
ITACI is the entity that was chosen by Silvia Krakowiak Rosenthal to be the beneficiary of all of her pro bono efforts.
